Ralph Leroy Sydney

Ralph LeRoy Sydney, 82, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Ralph was born July 27, 1932 in Barry, IL as one of nine children to Ralph and Susie (McIntire) Sydney. After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. On September 18, 1955 he married Verona (Kindle) and together had nine children of their own. He was a hard worker holding many positions including meat cutter for a local union, owning numerous businesses such as moving and storage, grocery stores, a Malt Shoppe and butcher shops. He was also a member of a Masonic Lodge in St. Joseph. Ralph enjoyed fishing, and gardening in his down time but providing for his large and loving family was his number one prerogative. He is remembered as multi-faceted, unforgettable, a teaser, and loving. Ralph will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Everett Wayne; sisters, Amelia Edwards, Doris Bethard, Jean Coldiron, Patricia Duffield; and brother, John Sydney.
