Verona Louise Sydney (Kindle)

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Verona, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on August 8, 2019. Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, from 1-2pm with a memorial service at 2pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Verona was born on August 9, 1932 in Macon, MO to George Lee Kindle and Trella Huffman Kindle. She attended Bevier High School in Bevier, MO and Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL where she received her Registered Nurse degree in 1954. During nurses’ training, she met the love of her life, Ralph LeRoy Sydney, who she later married on September 18, 1955 and together they had nine children. Verona loved the Lord and her light shined in all aspects of her life. Her natural gift was always serving and nurturing. She was very conscientious and treated her patients with dignity, respect and true compassion. She worked at several area hospitals during her lengthy career, including Research Medical Center, before retiring from St. Joseph. Though retired, she carried the torch of nursing until her final hours. Verona dearly loved spending time with her family, was an avid reader and enjoyed her Kindle. She was a strong, Christian woman, who was kind, sweet and a great example for her children. Verona was meticulously organized, having lists and labels for everything. Though very humble, she never went out without her lipstick on and nails and toes painted. She was a true lady. For those blessed to have crossed paths with her, you were sure to get one of her hugs and a smile. She is survived by eight children, Lyn (Marvin Gregg) Mitchell, Tim (C.J.) Sydney, Craig Sydney, Sandy (Tim) Nicolaisen, Vicky Joy, Stan (Amy) Sydney, Jeff (Renee) Sydney and Dreama Sydney; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Roger (Kathy) Sydney and Ron (Janet) Sydney. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph LeRoy Sydney; infant son, Everett Wayne; both parents; and brother, George Lee Kindle, Jr. Flowers or donations to the Kansas City Hospice House are suggested.
