Juanita Rae Taylor, 75, of Independence, MO, entered the presence of her savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Saturday, January 5th, 2019. After an eight-year battle and faithful journey with cancer, her faith is now realized. Juanita was born on October 10th, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio to Harry and Orleeta (Sellers) Smead. She married Ted Taylor on her birthday in 1992. Their union was a picture of Christ’s love for the church. (Ephesians 5:22-32). She spent long hours preparing to teach Sunday school over the years to both children and adults. Her greatest passion being that others could come to know her Jesus. She delighted in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; babysitting, planning family gatherings and attending athletic and fine arts events whenever possible. Each morning, she arose as early as 4am to pray specifically for each one of them. These prayers and her faith are the legacy she leaves, a gift that will remain long after her home-going. Juanita had a joyful sense of humor, often adding levity to the challenges of life. And, she knew how to play a good prank. Juanita is preceded in death by both parents; and a brother, Harry Wayne Smead. She will be remembered fondly by her loving husband, Ted; her children Robert, Randy and Becky; stepchildren Scott and Randy; and all of their spouses. Her memory will also live on in a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and children she claimed as her own; all of whom will carry on her faith. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2019 from 6-8pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services will be held on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at 10am, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery.
