Walter Cecil Taylor, 101, of Independence, Mo, passed away, Monday, April 11, 2005 at Rosewood Health Center. Cremation is planned with private family services at a later date. Walter was born December 13, 1903 in Goodland, KS to Ira H. and Sarah (McDonald) Taylor. He grew up in Goodland attending public schools and working on the family farm and farmed for himself in Goodland. He later met and was married to Florence Betty Light on November 3, 1927. While in Goodland he and Florence were active in the 4-H and the B.P.O.E. In 1955 they sold the farm and moved to Denver CO where Walter bought and built apartment complexes and worked for the public school system. They later moved to Mansfield, MO before retiring to Independence in 1990. In Independence they attended the Community of Christ Stone Church. Throughout his life Walter always enjoyed fishing and hunting. Florence passed away on September 16, 1995. He is survived by; 2 daughters, Beverly Dimmitt of St, Louis, MO and Carol Reilly of Stafford, VA; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jeanne Krueger in 1997 and all eight of his brothers and sister.
