Ralph Tenney

Ralph Tenney, 77, of Lake Lotawana, MO passed away Thursday, September 1st at St. Joseph Health Center. A "Celebration of his Life� will be held at a later date. Ralph was born May 27, 1928 in Bethany, MO to Ralph and Cleo (Little) Tenney, Sr.. He grew up in Bethany and then graduated from William Jewell College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tenney was a cereal chemist for the C.J. Patterson Company (currently American Ingredients) for over 45 years. He held numerous patents. Early in his life he enjoyed photography and took family vacations throughout the country. Ralph was devoted to his wife and daughter and on "Terrace Street�, he became the "Go to Dad� for help understanding anything scientific from a Solar Eclipse to Medical Vocabulary. Later, after moving to the lake he enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing and bird watching. "Papa� enjoyed all of these even more with his grandchildren. In recent years he was an antique dealer in the metro Kansas City area. Also, he enjoyed watching the real estate and financial markets and was a valued member of his investment club. He will be missed. Mr. Tenney is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice (Thornton) of the home; daughter and son-in-law Belinda and Jan Thomas Olson of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Jenny Olson-Paden and husband Aron Paden of Greenwood, MO, Jacob Thomas Olson of Lake Lotawana, MO, Maddy Olson of Overland Park, KS. His parents, 2 sisters, and an infant daughter preceded him in death. The family suggests that memorial contributions for Ralph Tenney be made to Harvesters The Community Food Network, 3801 Topping Ave, KC, MO 64129 online at www.harvesters.org or to a charity of your choice. (Harvesters is currently helping survivors of Hurricane Katrina as well as members of our community)
