Thomas J. Tepesch, Sr., 88, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 6, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Sat., Jan. 11 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055; entombment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 10 am before Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc., 6900 College Blvd., Ste. 250, Leawood, KS 66211. Tom was born March 20, 1925 in Waukon, IA and graduated from high school there. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over forty years and retired in 1988. He was a member of St. Mark’s Parish. He enjoyed repairing and collecting clocks and loved spending time with his grandsons. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Frances Tepesch and brothers and sisters. He is survived by son Tom Tepesch, Jr. and wife Penny, Blue Springs, MO; sisters Sis Huinker, Monona, IA; Patricia Wepler, Cedar Falls, IA; Bernie Lawlor and husband Leo, Northfield, MN; grandsons Nick and Brady Tepesch and many nieces and nephews.
