He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seaman Aviation Machinist on board the USS Forrestal (CVA-59) from 1963 to 1965. Following his time in the service he worked for the Kansas City Star and Times for 35 years as a Photoengraver. One of his many hobbies was farming, riding horses, taking motorcycle rides with Kenny and his friends or just sitting on the porch visiting with Russ and Gary watching the groundhogs, deer and wild turkeys. He enjoyed his time sitting by campfires and telling stories and going on boat rides with Brian and Jim. Running off to Bagnall Dam restaurants and marinas for dinner or just driving around the lake roads and enjoying the sights of the rolling hills or fishing, nature photography, shooting guns, family BBQ's or holidays and camping with Chellie and Tom was a simple pleasure he enjoyed immensely. He is survived by his daughter Deborah “Chellie” Test-McGee (Thomas Sr.) Of Lee's Summit, Mo., son Brian Test (Jim Leveling) of Kansas City, Mo., 2 grandchildren Kristine Williams and Thomas McGee Jr., 3 Great-grandchildren, Zoë Johnson, Kristine McGee and Chloe Williams and his special little buddy Mama Cat. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Adrian and LaVon Test and sister Patricia (Patty) Test.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to Benton County Hospice, PO Box 935, Warsaw, Mo., 65355. The family would like to say a special thank you to everyone at Benton County Hospice for all of the love and care they showed to our father. The Hospice team helped make the worst of times more bearable.Dad was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We share many memories of riding in the jeep through the Colorado Mountains and ghost towns, riding horseback on his farm, shooting guns and playing with toys or watching him sit with his grandkids at the kids table. Dad you will be sorely missed. May you find peace and comfort. As they say in the Navy to one of their own May you have "Fair winds and Flowing Seas."
