Leo L. Thiel, Jr., 86, Independence, MO died Aug. 20, 2005 at his home. Services will be 10 am, Wed., Aug. 24, 2005 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Interment with full Military Honors will be at Concord Cemetery, Bates City, MO. Visitation will be 7 - 9 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society. Leo was born Nov. 10, 1918 in Norborne, MO. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II. He was a tool & die maker for Bendix Corp. for 29 years and had retired approximately 20 years ago. He was a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. Leo was preceded in death by his wife Dora Thiel in 2001 and a brother George Thiel. He is survived by daughters Tammy Shipley, Pleasant Hill, MO; Carole Bray, Mary Greble, and Glinnes Behee, all of Independence; son Norman Arnold, Blue Springs, MO; brother Louis Thiel, Marshall, MO; sister Loretta Schieszer, Blue Springs, MO; brothers Don Thiel, Malta Bend, MO; John Thiel, K.C., MO; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
