Alexander Gregory Thirstrup, Sr., 30, passed away on December 25, 2020 in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Alex was born on August 12, 1990 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Brandi Thirstrup and Victor Hernandez, Jr. He was a student of Fairmount Elementary, Nowlin Middle School, and Belton High School in the class of 2009. For the past nine years, he was a multiple machine operator for Post Press Specialties.
Above all else, Alex was a family man. He worked so hard to ensure his kids were taken care of and maintained a very close relationship with his mother. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time at his grandparents’ cabin at Lake Pomme de Terre, playing basketball with his friends, and watching Chiefs games.
Alex was happiest when those around him were happy. He would brighten up a room with his silly jokes and dance moves. Although his life ended too soon, the memories made and the light he created in so many lives will be his indelible legacy.
Alex is survived by his children Alexander Jr. (“Bobo”) Thirstrup, Xela Rose Thirstrup and stepchildren who he cared for as his own Jaxson and Quintin and their mother Brandy Alvis. He is also survived by his mom Brandi Thirstrup-Davis, his dad Victor M. Hernandez, Jr.; two brothers Anthony Ray Thirstrup and Blake Sinclair Thirstrup-Garcia; maternal grandma Rosalie Bagnell; and many extended family and many, many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa Victor Hernandez, Sr.; maternal grandpa Gregory Thirstrup; great-grandpa Gene Claibourn; and cousin Maleah Smith.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, from 6-8pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence, MO. Due to county restrictions, the funeral service is closed to the public. He will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
