David S. Thomas, 76 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 14th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. David was born February 18, 1928 in Independence, MO to Carl and Elena (Anthony) Thomas. He was a lifelong resident of Independence. Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1952. During a tour of duty in Germany, he met and married the love of his life, Marianne Maier. After returning to the area he learned masonry and carpenter trades. He was employed by Ruffe Construction Co. from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. David was an avid story teller and game player. He loved his family and friends and the time they spent together. David was often seen at the Roger T. Sermon Center and the V.A. Hospital brightening others lives. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother. He is survived by his sons David K. Thomas and wife Michelle of Overland Park, KS, John M. Thomas and wife Angela of Independence, MO, daughter Debbie Little Eagle of Independence, MO; sisters Tessie Dorland, Helen Morton; brother Vance Thomas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 2 precious angels on the way. David also leaves 2 angels of mercy Robin Sue McClasson and Becky Hayes. The family thanks everyone for their support and love.
