Elda "Mae" Thomas (Brown)

Elda Mae Thomas, 86, Raytown, MO passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 26 2017 surrounded by her family. Services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Full Gospel Assembly, 10537 E 6th St. Independence, MO 64053; internment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tues. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street S., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to American Cancer Society Kansas City Chapter. Mae was born on September 16, 1931 in Poteau, OK. She loved being a wife and a mother to her two daughters. As a pastor’s wife she served in churches located in KS, AR and MO. She had the heart of a servant and many found encouragement from her kind words and gentle wisdom. She enjoyed her morning walk with friends at a neighborhood church. She also attended a weekly women’s Bible study and led a care ministry for widows at her home church, Full Gospel Assembly.She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years Alonzo Thomas and sister Opal Brown, sister Marie Thomas and brother Buster Brown. She is survived; by daughters Brenda Thomas Vanderhoofven and Kathy Thomas; sister Ruby Allen and husband Cecil; brother J.C. Brown and wife Roene; brother Kenneth Brown and wife Jerrie; sister Wanda Fisher and husband Jim; grandson Grant Vanderhoofven; her nieces and nephews; and the rest of her family and friends.
