Jack D. Thomas, 76, of Kearney, MO, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial with military honors in Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association or the Parkinson�s Foundation. Jack was born September 26, 1930 in Independence, MO to James "Floyd� and Oleva Duel (Cook) Thomas. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict being honorably discharged as an Aviation Machinist 2nd Class. Mr. Thomas was a long-time member of the Community of Christ Church as an Elder, serving as Pastor of the Venice, CA, Costa Mesa, CA and Excelsior Springs, MO congregations. Jack retired from McDonald Douglas in 1987 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Society of Aeronautic Weight Engineers. Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary K. (Alton) Thomas; brother Floyd Thomas and wife Bonnie; sisters-in-law Jean Thomas, Mildred Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Juanita, and brothers James and Henry.
