Agnes (Ann) Thompson, 95, of Kansas City died unexpectedly on July 24, 2021. Agnes was born at home on Hardesty Street, KCMO, on March 4, 1926, the last of eight children to Mary Catherine Hortense McKay (1887) and Louis Arthur Purcell (1885). She attended Holy Cross, Assumption, Blessed Sacrament parochial schools, and graduated from Paseo High School in 1943. After graduation, she worked at Greyhound Bus Terminal where she met her husband, John Riley Thompson (1923) in 1945. They married on August 30, 1947 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and over the course of seventeen years had eight children. Proud of her Irish ancestry, she passed along her values of faith, family, fun. Always ready to gather, her quick wit and spunky attitude entertained all. We are forever indebted to the foundation she gave us through her unconditional love and unwavering presence in our lives. She is preceded in death by her seven siblings, parents, husband and son, James Michael Thompson. She leaves behind descendants as “numerous as the stars in the heavens”: Karen Ann Tenenbaum (Wayne), Col. William Edward Thompson, DDS (ret) (Yolie), Rev. Mary K. Siegmund (Mark), John “Jack” Riley Thompson II (Sue), Diana Dawn Taylor (Steve), Donald Ward Thompson (Bridgette), Jeffry Scott Thompson (Karen), 25 grandchildren and their children. A special thanks to her good friends from St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marilyn Duree and Bobbi Holm.
