Evelyn Marie Thompson age 95, Independence, MO passed away February 8, 2014 at Rosewood Health Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Evelyn was born June 17, 1918 in Schell City, Mo to Albert Edward Emil and Ottillia Augusta Wilhelmia. (Yehle) Walter. She was a beloved wife mother and homemaker who enjoyed bowling and card parties with her husband. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Committee of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by: a son, Roger C. Thompson (Juanita), grandson, Jeff Thompson, granddaughter, Cathy Counti (Carl), great-granddaughter, Katie Thompson all of Lee’s Summit, MO. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Zolas C. Thompson, a brother, Chester Walter and a sister, Ruby Clevenger.
