George Thompson, 80 Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 19, 1940 in Axtell, KS. He is survived by the love of his life and soul mate, Pam Bybee of the home, his son, Ronald and wife Cathy, TN, their 4 children and 3 grandchildren, sister, Carol Johnson, KS, nieces and nephews, Pam’s daughters, Julie (Jeff) Schrader, Mitzi Lawrence, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters. He served in the Army from 1961-1964. In 1996 he retired from Yellow Freight Systems, after being a driver for 30 years. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #41, member of American Legion Post #21, Independence, and a Mason. George requested there be no services at this time due to the pandemic. Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaim “Wow, what a ride!” Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel (816) 373-3600)
