Glenda Lee Thompson, a woman who loved her family fiercely, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. She was 61. Glenda was born to William and Betty Wilkinson on November 16, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa.
After graduating from Fort Osage High School Glenda worked for International Paper advancing her career by taking accounting courses. She stayed with the International Paper for over 20 years. The career that won her heart was her Avon adventure though. She’s been a cosmetic/skin care sales representative for over 16 years. Glenda loved people and formed relationships with over 1200 clients over that time. They cherished their visits together and it became much more than a transactional career. They were her friends. In 2012 Glenda met her soulmate Robert. Together they enjoyed traveling, taking fishing trips to both Truman and Indian Creek Lake and attending sporting events. Glenda was an avid sports fan and took every opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. She was a planner. Every detail of her day was carefully thought out on her calendar. She looked forward to the Wilkinson family tradition of attending the Missouri State Fair year after year. Glenda had an astounding Angel collection, held the worlds best recipe for banana nut bread and will be missed greatly by so many people who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; son, Christopher Lamastres; step son, Jeremy Lamastres; step granddaughters, Ashley and Hannah; sisters, Nycki Mareda (Ron), Tonja Jelinek (Gary) and Anita King; brother, William Wilkinson; ex husband, Harry Lamastres; her beloved “psycho cat” Mattie and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, September 11th from 9-11am at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Her services will immediately follow at 11am. The service will be livestreamed and can be found at speakschapel.com.
