Mary Alice Thompson, age 83, passed away Friday March 30, 2018 peacefully at her home in Independence, Missouri after a long struggle with cancer. She was a devoted member of the Kansas City community and had lived here since 1952. She is a mother of two, grandmother to four, great grandma to two, and dog mom to Dudley, her best friend. As a business owner in the Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City, she brought joy to people’s lives by providing a place for them to call home. Mary then spent twelve years as a public servant working for the Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City as a circuit court clerk. She also graciously volunteered at her neighborhood church and was in charge of the kitchen feeding members and the community. After her retirement, she found her true calling as an employee for the Kansas City Royals. As a forever fan, this was a dream come true. She was even honored with the prestigious Buck O'Neil seat at Kauffman Stadium in 2016. Her life will forever be cherished by her children: Tracy and Ralph Lomonte and Thomas Wagoner; grandchildren Jennifer and Kevin Kirksey, Joey and Paige Sharp, Brandon and Elizabeth Sharp, and Erica and Justin McGee; and her great grandchildren, Owen McGee and Kevin Kirksey III. She also leaves behind many caring relatives including Donald and Karan Tracy and numerous friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 8, 2018 at 1pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri.
