Raymond Thompson, 84, of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be at 2pm on Thursday, March 29th at the chapel.
Raymond was born on March 6, 1934 in Macon, MO to Bert Sr. and Nellie (Smith) Thompson. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in Korea. Upon returning home, he spent many years working at Chicago Title in Downtown Kansas City where he retired as Vice President. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring Chrysler cars and doing karaoke. Raymond was a people person with a huge heart and would help anyone at anytime.
He will be remembered by his daughters Cathy Curatalo and husband Frank of Grain Valley, MO, Anita Draggoo of Independence, MO; sister Darlene Barker and husband Vernon; brother Harold Thompson and wife Betty; 8 grandchildren Cari Sue Koehly, Jason Robbins, Kayleigh Curatalo, Nick Curatalo, Alyssa Curatalo, Michael Huntsucker, Kelly Melcher, and Billy Melcher; 18 great-grandchildren; and many friends in the Blue Springs and Independence areas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Leatha Thompson, brothers Bert Thompson Jr. and Charles Thompson, and his parents.
