William Dean “Bill” Thompson, 72, Independence, MO passed away July 21, 2018. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed., July 25 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Graveside services will be held later.
Bill was born Jan. 1, 1946 in Topeka, KS and graduated from Topeka West High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at the Post Office in Independence for thirty-two years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of American Legion Post #21. He enjoyed gardening, auto racing and sports.
Bill is survived by his wife of forty years Wilma Thompson, of the home; daughter Janette Carr and husband Ed, Lee’s Summit, MO; son Steven Theiss and wife Trish, Princeton, MO; sister Sharon Crouch, Topeka, KS; brother Jim Thompson and wife Rita, CA; grandchildren Misty Yancey and husband Ben, North Liberty IA; Brandon Carr and wife Mary, Little Canada, MN.
