Wilma Elaine (Ozbun) Thompson, 91, died December 26, 2021 at Wilshire at Lakewood, Lees Summit, MO. She was born October 25, 1930 in Hutchinson, KS. Daughter of Vernie and Jessie (Davis) Ozbun. She grew up and lived life on various farms around the Hutchinson KS area where her father worked. She graduated from Haven High School in 1948. During high school she worked at S.H. Kress & Co in the toy and candy departments. After high school, she held various jobs working at, Southwestern Bell, Woolworth’s, Independence Credit Bureau, and manager of the Pioneer Ranch Restaurant in eastern Independence. After raising her two children, she worked at the Englewood Ben Franklin Five and Dime Store, the Jones Store at the Blue Ridge Mall, the Social Security Administration, and the Hardees restaurant on the Kansas turnpike. She loved baseball, and especially loved watching the KC Royals. She had a wonderful “green thumb” and loved working in the garden and growing all types of flowers. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching their races every weekend.
Wilma is survived by daughter, Janette (Ed) Carr, Lee's Summit, MO; son, Steve (Trish) Theiss, Princeton, MO; grandchildren, Misty (Ben) Yancey, North Liberty, Iowa, and Brandon (Mary) Carr, Texas; great grandchildren, Luna and Aurora Yancey, North Liberty, Iowa.
