Mary Lee Tigner, 78, Buckner, MO joined her Father in Heaven on May 30, 2014, when she passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness.
Born in Blackshear, GA on May 1, 1936 to Edward and Emma Bolden. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers; Edward, Clarence, Woodrow “Doc”, Carl “Babe” and Joe. She is survived by two brothers and two sisters; Ruben, Thomas, Myrtice and Maggie.
Mary raised four daughters Debra, Rebecca, Mary and Esther. Mary passed away in 2008. She also has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Michael Burch, Debra Burch, Michael Webb, Shane Webb, Melissa Lee, Sadie Webb, Keith Webb, Madeline Webb, Marie Webb and Sabrina Watkins.
Mary attended Blackshear High School where she was an honor student and active in debate, She moved to the Eastern Jackson County area in 1957. She was employed at Lake City Ammunition Plant, Jerry’s US Mart and Medical Center of Independence before retiring from Lake City in 2004. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Buckner, where she was a strong supporter of the youth group. She was a member of the “Joy” Class and developed many friendships and fond memories of her church family and will be greatly missed by all. Mary had a great love of the outdoors and it was common to see her working in her yard in which she took great pride.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Speaks Buckner Chapel; 300 Adams St., Buckner, MO 64016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Buckner; 131 S. Hudson St., Buckner, MO 64016. Burial will follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church Youth Group.
