David C. Tignor, 65, Independence, MO passed away at home with his loving family by his side on February 15, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, February 18, 2016 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church 10109 E. Lexington Ave., Independence MO. Visitation will be from 9 am to service time at the church. Burial will full military honors will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. David was born on April 9, 1950 in Independence, MO to Charles and Victoria (Cherry) Tignor. It was in kindergarten at St. Ann’s that David met his future wife, Sherry Hallagin. They reconnected in high school becoming high school sweethearts. After graduation, they were married at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. David was a proud veteran, obtaining the rank of SGT, of the Vietnam War were he earned a Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Marksmanship M-16, and Expert M-14. After his tour of duty was completed he returned to Independence to join his bride. He retired from Lipton/Unilever after many years of service. Survivors include; wife of 47 years, Sherry Tignor; daughter Kimberly Brown (Scott); daughter Kelly Sartin; brother George Tignor and Robert Tignor; sister Irene Griffith; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. David is preceded in death by his parents.
