Ruth Tippins

Ruth Pyle Tippins, 97, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Wishire at Lakewood. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or to The Salvation Army. Ruth was born July 11, 1909 in Hiawatha, KS to George Washington and Mary Agnes (Wikle) Pyle. Mrs. Tippins taught in the rural Brown County, Kansas schools for several years and also in the Frankfort, Kansas schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, DAR and a Federated Women�s study club. Ruth received first place in Creative Writing from the Missouri Federated Women�s Clubs in 1981. Mrs. Tippins was preceded in death by her husband Ben Tippins in 1986; five sisters, Ida Jones, Emma Mosser, Alice Jacques, Vera Cornell and Thelma Funderburgh; four brothers Ira, Henry, Frank and George Pyle. She is survived by her niece, Pauline (Polly) Jones and a nephew, John Pyle all of the Kansas City area; and numerous nieces and nephews who live out of town.
