Helen Mabelle Tolliver, 95, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 28th, 2020. A visitation will be held from 10-11am on Wednesday, August 5th at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052. Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery at 11:30am.
Helen was born October 27th, 1924 in Neodesha, KS to Frank and Remo (Anderson) Bryson. She graduated from Neodesha High School and worked for an airplane glider factory through WWII. She married Mansel C. Tolliver and together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Sharon and Remo Ann.
Once the girls had grown, Helen began working at the Fairmount Dress Shop and eventually became owner herself. She loved sewing and making alterations and made countless lap robes to give away to area nursing homes. Helen was also a long-time member of Mt. Washington Baptist Church where she actively served teaching Sunday School and working in the church’s service center. She always enjoyed playing card games, BINGO or dominoes with her friends and family.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Sharon Fostich with husband, Jim, and Remo Ann Fain-Henning with husband, Ted; as well as her aunt, Joan Hubbard; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mansel and two brothers, Charles Bryson and Carl Lee Bryson.
