David Scott “Dave” Townsend
David Scott “Dave” Townsend, 53, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away Saturday January 29, 2022.
Dave was born on June 18, 1968 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of Orval Townsend and LeEtta Newton. He attended Hamilton and Nevada Schools where he loved playing football before relocating and graduating from Raytown High School Class of 1987. In 1992 while working at Chi-Chi’s, he met his best friend and future wife Rebecca Boyd, they married in 1994 and from their union came two daughters Kayla and Norah, which completed their beautiful family. Dave worked as a driver for T-Force Freight. He was a very social man, he loved visiting with neighbors and friends and planning float trips. A lover of all animals, especially his dogs Ace and Rico. He would have saved them all if he could. Early in marriage he and Becky played on a co-Ed softball team together, a love he shared with Kayla as she grew and played as well, Dave always being present and supportive through her softball journey. Dave was quite the cook with his signature dishes, some would say he made the best chili ever tasted, while others might boast about his enchiladas, French dip, chicken marsala, and no one could deny that he was a master at the grill. Dave had a love of all cars, often spending time working on his Dad’s truck. He was a lover of music of all ranges from older country to metal, another passion he passed on to his youngest Norah, they would spend many moments listening and learning and relishing in the time they had together enjoying the music and each other’s company. Dave and his family enjoyed watching movies and football together. Knowing Dave was knowing love, there was no question in the love that he had for family and friends and he will be very deeply missed.
Dave is survived by his wife Rebecca Townsend; daughters, Kayla (Hunter Quintrell) Townsend, Norah Townsend; mother-in-law, Glenda Boyd; step mother, Naomi Townsend; step sister, Angie McGuirk; aunts and uncles, Clyde (Kathy) Townsend, Sharon Ruhnke, Wally Newton, Denny (Lori) Newton, Mark (Angie) Newton, Bruce (Jill) Newton; many extended family and friends.
