Ruth D. Trapp, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021. She was 98. Ruth was born to Albin and Julia Smith on March 1, 1923 in Burdick, Kansas.
Ruth was one of 12 siblings. After graduating from High School she moved to Topeka, Kansas and worked as a secretary. Ruth and her late husband George were very active within the Shriners and Eastern Star organizations for many years. They also enjoyed traveling together. Ruth was a very good cook and made sure her kids knew how to cook as well, even the boys. She also enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. She will be forever known for her Mexican food at Christmas time and her hot sauce recipe. Each family member has recreated that same recipe to make it their own. Ruth will also be remembered as an avid Royals fan and everyone knew not to bother her during the game. She had a beautiful spirit and will be missed dearly.
Ruth is survived by her children, Harold Marshall (Connie), Joe Trapp (Barbara), Sandra Dillon (Dave) and Rickey Trapp (Sue); 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Porter Marshall; late husband, George Trapp and step son, George Trapp II (Chris).
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19th from 1-2pm at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home in Independence, Missouri with funeral service at 2pm. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in memory of Ruth.
