RICHARD ELRIDGE TROXEL
Richard Troxel, 73, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 24th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25th at Christ United Methodist Church, Independence. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Weatherby, MO.
Richard was born November 6, 1939 to Clotilda (Gunderson) and William Bruce Troxel in Dekalb County (Weatherby, MO). He was a Maysville High School Graduate and proudly served in the United States Army, pre-Vietnam. Richard and Lois (Young) were married on September 26, 1959, in King City, MO. After working for over 35 years as a Warehouse Logistics Manager, he retired from Sears as well as Menlo Logistics. Richard especially loved being outdoors fishing, being with his family, or playing outdoor sports. He enjoyed his yard work and gardening. Richard was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church for many years and served on many boards, participated in Scouts, and food drop distribution to those less fortunate, and was a member of the Journeyman Sunday School class. Richard was a devoted son, brother, husband, father uncle, grandfather and dear friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Richard is survived by his wife, Lois of the home; son, Jeffrey Troxel (Steve Davis) of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Jennifer Wyckoff (Keith) of Cowgill, MO; grandsons, Nicholaus and Nathan Wyckoff; sister, Margaret Hinderks (Roger) of Amity, MO; sister-in-law, Nedra Troxel of Lawrence, KS; sister-in-law, Carole (Troxel) Simmons of Cartersville, GA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and GW Troxel; and niece, Christina. The family encourages contributions to Christ United Methodist Church of Independence, MO; Bethel Cemetery Fund: 5072 NE Heimbaugh, Weatherby, MO 64497; and Crossroads Hospice of Kansas City MO in his memory.
