Jeanette McClellan Truman, 78, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at her residence. The family will greet friends from 6-7:30pm on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5609 S Norfleet Rd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Burial will be private. Jeanette was born in Blackfoot, Idaho to Dean and Fern (Clark) McClellan. She met her husband, Ferrol Truman, in the late Fall of 1960, and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 25, 1961. She was the mother of six children, four girls and two boys. Jeanette was a world traveler. She lived in England, Turkey, Germany, Spain and Canada. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities within the Church. Jeanette was a homemaker. Her greatest accomplishment was of course her family, but she was also an accomplished seamstress. She made most of the clothes for her family, she produced many beautiful and complex cross-stitch pictures and was an expert quilter. Jeanette also loved to can fruits and vegetables and would can as many as 400 quarts in a summer for her family's use. She enjoyed traveling, camping, family reunions, and special dates and outings with her husband. She was also very fond of family vacations with all the kids. She was a Master of Games and won most of the family game night competitions. She was also an avid reader. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Ferrol Truman of Independence, MO; daughter, Luene (Lee) Byers of Enoch, UT; daughter, Teri (Scott) Lapine of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Ann (Chad) Jenkins of Brigham City, UT; son, Michael (Michelle) Truman of Lee's Summit, MO; daughter, Karen (David) DeLaMare of Kansas City, MO; son, David (Marjorie) Truman of Harrisonville, MO; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, with more on the way; and her brothers, Grant (Jeane) McClellan of Idaho; Wayne (Nelda) McClellan of Idaho; and Roger (Gwen) McClellan of Utah. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; and younger sister, Ila Dean Hagen. Jeanette is loved by all who knew her.
