Meta Donzetta Downey Turnbow, 86, “the beacon of light” to her family and friends went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2023. Donzetta was born November 4, 1936, to Jarol and Kathryn (McBrayer) Downey in Gallatin, Missouri. She attended school in Jamesport and completed high school at Westport High in 1954. In 1968 she married the love of her life, Richard E. Turnbow. Their union created an instant family, including five children: Donnie, Becky, and Bobby Weaver and Rick and Lauri Turnbow. Their family continued to grow with the addition of Joe, Michelle, and Jerrod Turnbow.
Donzetta spent many years, and would later retire from the Office of the General Counsel, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She was a long time member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Temple and later Country Meadows Baptist Church.
Donzetta was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and sons Donnie and Bobby Weaver. She is survived by her sister, Kathy (John) Tiefel, children Becky Boynton, Rick (Kellie) Turnbow, Lauri Burkhardt, Joe (Bonni) Turnbow, Michelle (Dannie) Oberbroeckling, Jerrod (Natalie) Turnbow, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She will also be missed by numerous brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Sunday February 5th At Speaks Suburban Chapel with services on Monday, February 6th at 2 PM. Interment will take place at Oak Ridge Memory Garden.
