Donald L. Turner, 78 of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, December 11, 2015 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial gathering to be held from 2-3:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donald was born January 20, 1937 in Pitcher, OK to Fred and Ethel (Lincoln) Turner. He grew up in Oklahoma and spent many happy years there before work brought him to the Kansas City area. He had worked over 45 years as Ironworker for the local Ironworkers Union #501 until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, building things, outdoor activities especially camping and classic country music. He loved to work and was a very hard working man. Survivors include; 2 sons, Donald Turner of Kansas City, MO and Gary Turner of St. Joseph, MO; 3 children from a previous marriage including Mike Turner and Tina Turner; 2 brothers, Howard Turner and Jerry Turner; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2012 and son, Robert in 2013.
