Gary L Turner
Born August 29, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Lewis C Turner and LaDeen Miles Turner Coe.
Died, June 7, 2021 at home in Grain Valley, MO.
He attended Paseo High School in Kansas City, graduating in 1956. He also attended Kansas City Junior College.
Married his high school sweetheart Carolyn K Johnson June 22, 1958.
Survived by his wife of nearly 63 years and by their three children daughter Chera Thompson (Howard) of Colorado, daughter Jana Karim (Andrew) of Oklahoma and son, Gregory Turner (Molly) of Florida. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Monica Turner, George Turner, Jordan Karim, Nathan Karim and Laila Karim.
Gary served in the Marine Corp Reserves. He enjoyed taking the family on camping trips to explore historic sites and National Parks. Gary’s career as Draftsman, Engineer, Project Manager, Product Manager, Plant Manager and Vice President of Manufacturing took he and his family from the Kansas City area to St. Louis, MO, Fort Madison, IA, Galesburg, IL, Cape Girardeau, MO, Memphis, TN and finally back to the Kansas City area settling in Blue Springs and Grain Valley.
He was always curious about how things work; he took apart Carolyn’s wedding gift sewing machine just to check it out, then restored to perfect order. After retirement, he assembled his woodworking shop and enjoyed designing and building projects ranging from musical jewelry boxes to a dining table. He enjoyed creating items for their home and gifts for others.
Visitation: Friday, June 11, 6-8pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel.
Graveside Service: Saturday June 12, 10am at Floral Hills Cemetery.
The family will welcome friends at the home after the service.
