Geraldine F. “Gerry” Turner, 85, passed away March 28, 2011. Services will be 10 am, Friday, April 1, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Gerry was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Bakersfield, CA. Her family moved to Independence, MO and she graduated from William Chrisman High School. She worked at Western Electric (later Lucent Technologies) in Lee’s Summit, MO for twenty-one years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Telecom Pioneers from Western Electric. She enjoyed sewing and gardening her vegetables and flowers – especially roses.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband James Turner in 1995 and brothers Eugene Morris, Dean Morris and Dale Morris. She is survived by daughters Pam Lehman; Diana Bray and husband Jim, all of Independence, MO; brother Junie Morris and wife Carol, Carrolton, MO; grandchildren Michelle Salyer and husband George, Independence, MO; Jason Swearngin and wife Alexis, Lee’s Summit, MO; and three great-grandchildren.
