James Keep Turner, Jr. Son of James Keep Turner and Isabella Kathleen Ireland passed away on January 12, 2014 due to heart complications. Jay graduated from William Chrisman High School and Brigham Young University. He retired from General Motors after a 30 year career. He also served in the army during the Korean War. Following his retirement he volunteered at the Vaile Mansion. Jay was briefly married to Glenna Jacobs Griffith (her daughter Lynn). Throughout Jay's life he participated in choirs, played the piano and organ and bass for churches and musical groups, including the Cellar Dweller Singers, KCMMC, Raytown Men’s Choir and Hula Nani Serenaders. Jay had an incredible singing voice and willingly shared his talents. He loved convertibles, food and cooking and laughing. Jay is survived by his sister, Kathleen T. Denning of Utah, nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., with services to follow at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 West Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
