Kathleen Anne Turner, 68, passed away on July 10, 2016. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, from 3-4pm, with memorial service at 4pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence. Contributions may be made to American Cancer or Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in her honor.
Kathy was born on March 30, 1948, in Independence, MO, to Forest Jewel and Louise Davis Pollard. She graduated from William Chrisman in the class of 1966. She met Charles Dennis Turner through mutual friends, and they courted while Dennis was on military leave. They married in 1967, and to this union were born three children.
Kathy worked for Billy Goat Industries of Lees Summit as an executive assistant to the President. She loved her job, and would often travel to do trade shows and promotions. She was confident and outgoing, and people gravitated toward her.
She loved to shop, and boasted an expansive “boho-chic” wardrobe. She adored animals, and would often bring all sorts of critters home. Her homemade meatloaf and casseroles could not be beat, but she would always make sure she saved room for her favorite desserts: cereal and ice cream.
Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Dennis; daughters Dana Turner-Thompson and Tuesday Gulick (husband, Brad); 5 grandchildren, Jerry, Brandi, Brooklyn, Harrison, and Hannah; and 3 great-grandchildren that she was “stuck like glue” to: Jaxon, Braelynn, and Hailey.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jamie; parents, Forest and Louise; and siblings, Nancy and Mike.
