Richard Allen Turner of Independence Mo. passed away November 8th, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family who loved him. He was 67 years old.
Richard was born on November 21st, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to his parents Wendell R. Turner and Joan Turner.
Richard had fond memories of childhood, playing ball games with his siblings, Charles Turner of New Market, IA- Robert Turner of Osceola, IA- Max Turner of San Diego, Ca-Van (Dawn) Turner of Clear Lake, IA-Raymond Turner of Shanandoh, IA- Audrey Cammack of Pekin, IL- Jane (Bill) Workman of Peoria IL- Sue (Larry) Lewellyn of Austin Tx.
Richard served in the US Navy from 1971-1975. He is a Vietnam Veteran. Richard received his Bachelor degree in Business Management, from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Richard retired from Toys R US after 21 years of service.
Richard married Karen (Youman) Turner on Sept 24th, 1988. They have 8 amazing children:
Michael (Iman) Smith of KC, MO, Sandra (David) Savage of Knoxville, TN, Rebecca (KJ) Atty of Independence, MO, Kimberly Smith of KC, MO, Tiffany (Jayson) Wyatt of independence, MO, Kenneth (Nicole) Tisdale of Lees Summit, MO, Timothy (Jamie) of KC, MO and Joseph (Amber) Tisdale of Independence, MO.
Richard enjoyed golfing and fishing, especially with his kids and grand kids. He also loved telling the grand children stories...the Bowbow stories.
Richard adored his family and friends. He was kind and gentle. Easy to talk to and never took things to serious. He didn't judge people. He listened instead of speaking. His love was unconditional.
He leaves behind his precious grandchildren, who he loved greatly: Mickey, Emma, Mitchell, Allie, Shelbie-Jo, Annah Grace, Nevaeh, Jacob, Brayden, Zachary, Eleanor, Alex, Gabby, Timmy, Lana, Harley, Alexa, Will
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wendell and Joan, Sisters, Mary, Judy Kay and Father in Law Wayne Youman Jr.
