Ronald Merle Turner, 79, passed away Aug. 3, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Sat., Aug. 4, at the South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 Salisbury Rd., Independence, MO. Visitation will follow the service. Ronald Merle Turner was born April 17, 1933 on Aruba, Netherlands West Indies to Vernon Emmett and Merle Lorene (Porter) Turner. Ron graduated high school in 1951. Then in the fall of 1951, he came to the States to attend Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa. He completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas University in 1955, receiving a degree in chemistry. However, his goal was medicine. In 1955 he started his medical studies at St. Louis University Medical School, St. Louis, MO. He graduated June 6, 1959.
While in St. Louis, Ron met Carol Jeanne Schlueter at church. He first saw her at the piano, playing for services. After courtship they married June 7, 1958. To this union were born two children: a son, Gregory Alan; and a daughter, Karen Elise.
Ron was preceded in death by his son Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter Karen Dennis and husband Lavon; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Scott; daughter-in-law Marcianna Damon and husband Ralph; grandchildren Quinton and Marlia Dennis and Marlia’s fiancé Jason Simmons; Joshua and Stephanie Turner; sister Nancy Anderson and husband Tom; brother Robert Turner and wife Ruth; nieces and nephews Debra & Jan Turner, Renee and Erlend Andersen, Aaron Lewis and Victoria Anderson; many other relatives and special friend Wanda Kosmicke.
