Shirly Ralph Turner, 80, Raytown, MO passed away June 1, 2006 surrounded by his family. Services will be 2 pm, Monday, June 5, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
The family requests contributions to K.C. Hospice. Shirly was born Dec. 13, 1925 in Independence. He was a manufacturing superintendent for Allis-Chalmers and retired in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific Theater aboard the submarine U.S.S. Ray. He was a Past Commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2 Ernestine Schumann-Heink, a member of VFW Post #1000, a Lifetime Member of Muddy MO WWII Submarine Veterans and a member of the Oink, Moo and Cock-A-Doodle-Doo BBQ Team. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Lois Turner, of the home; daughters Terri Turner Padilla and husband Andy, Shawnee, KS; Tami Moran and husband Sean, Lenexa, KS; brother Jerry Turner and wife Bobbie, Independence, MO; grandsons Mark & Matthew Moran; nephew Larry Turner; nieces Sherry Turner; Lori Schubert and husband Chester; and his beloved dog, Ami. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
