Elden Keith Twente

March 6, 1929 — August 18, 2018

Elden Twente, 89, of Independence, MO passed away August 18, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the East 39th St. Community of Christ; 15006 E 39th St Independence, MO 64055. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Church. Elden will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Lucille (Stowell) Twente in Mound Grove Cemetery. Elden was born on March 6, 1929 to Armin and Ada (Messersmith) Twente in Napoleon, MO. On March 17, 1950 Elden married the love of his life and together they raised 4 children. From 1958 to 1992 Elden along with his brother-in-law, owned and operated Englewood Cleaners. He was a Charter member of the 39th St. Community of Christ obtaining the honor of Priest. For over 50 years Elden maintained the lawn for the Church. He enjoyed being a member of the Knife and Fork Club for many years. Never tiring of mowing, Elden kept a “golf course” lawn at home as well. Elden was a member of Independence Optimist and Teamsters Local #31. Survivors include; son Darrell Twente and his wife Michele; son Ronald Twente and his wife Susan; daughter Connie Baldwin and her husband Edward; daughter Diann Twente; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Calvin Vincent Stowell; a large extended family and many friends. Elden is preceded in death by his wife Lucille Twente, brother Glenn Twente, and sisters Edna Hough and Helen Haase.
