Harlan Tyler, 89, Independence, MO, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 7, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2:00 Saturday at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Outreach International, or a charity of choice. Mr. Tyler was born June 4, 1915, in Puryear, TN, to Walter and Betty (Steverson) Tyler. He worked in the Civil Service during WWII and helped rebuild Pearl Harbor, then worked at the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge TN. Harlan was involved in maintenance work for most of his life and enjoyed fixing things. Most recently he had worked for the State of Missouri. He loved spending time with his family. Harlan was a member of the Community of Christ and served in the office of Priest. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Peyton; 3 brothers, Lexie, Bill, and Cleatus Tyler; and a sister, Luby Ross. He is survived by his wife, Loetta, of the home; three children, April Weiss and husband Mike, Independence MO, Stephen Tyler and wife Peggy, Platte City, MO, and Jeff Tyler and wife Sue, Independence, MO; 3 sisters, Lucille Sayer, Imogene Steele, and Melva Clark, all of Paris, TN; 9 grandchildren, Chris and Kevin Weiss, Jocelyn Gilbert, Matthew Peyton, and Stacy, Jason, Justin Tyler, and Amanda, and Alex Tyler; 5 great-grandchildren, Gaeli and Logan Weiss, and Peyton, Anna Gilbert, and Caden Tyler; and many other loving relatives and friends.
