Loetta Love Tyler, 89, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011.
A Celebration of Loetta’s Life will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Outreach International.
Loetta was born December 24, 1921 in Puryear, TN the daughter of William Jefferson and Lora (Miller) Stephens. She retired as a nurse’s aid, having worked for Dr. John Blumenschein Maternity Hospital, Jackson County Health Department, Resthaven and the Independence Sanitarium; Loetta was a longtime member of the College Park Community of Christ where she held the office of Teacher in the Priesthood and volunteered at the temple. She enjoyed traveling with her family and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Loetta was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Tyler in 2005; daughter, Pricilla Ann Peyton; infant son; two sisters; and six brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, April Weiss and her husband Mike of Independence; sons, Stephen Tyler and his wife Peggy of Platte City, Jeff Tyler and his wife Sue of Independence; nine grandchildren, Matt Peyton, Jocelyn Gilbert, Chris and Kevin Weiss, Stacy, Jason, Justin Tyler, Amanda and Alex Tyler; 15 great grandchildren, Alex and Tristan Peyton, Peyton, Anna and Ellie Gilbert, Gaeli, and Logan Weiss, Lauren, Tyler and Connor Weiss, Cassady Jacobusse, Carly, Grady Tyler, Caden and Kaleigh Tyler; brother, William Veltman Stephens and his wife Sue of Florissant; sister in laws, Sue Stephens, Jean Stephens, Geraldine Stephens, Imogene Steele and Pat Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
