Donn Bruce, Sr. Umphreys

Donn Bruce Umphreys, Sr., 70 of Buckner, MO, passed away, Monday, August 2, 2004 at the St. Mary�s Hospital in Blue Springs. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday August 5, 2004 at the Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. Donation may be made to the Fort Osage Fire Protection District 319 S. Central Buckner, MO 64016. Donn was born July 22, 1934 in Red Oak, IA to Clarence E. and Florence (Bruce) Umphreys. He graduated from public schools and was a veteran of the Army having served from 1955-57. He worked as a Journeyman Maintenance man for the Missouri Public Service until he retired in 1996. He was a member of the NRA and the I.B.E.W. Local #814. He was married to Lelah Miller on April 30, 1957, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; a son, Donn B. Umphreys, Jr.; s daughters, Gale Norris of Gladstone, MO and Deloris Carter of Buckner, MO; 4 brothers, Ed Umphreys of Midwest City, OK, Marlyn Umphreys of Sparks, NV, Steven Umphreys of Virginia and David Umphreys of Lincoln, NE; 4 sisters, Joyce Hutchinson of Spokane, WA, Janice of Gig Harbor, WA, Nancy Wheeling of Lincoln, NE and Wilma Jean Jordon of Columbia, MO; a step mother, Hope Umphreys of Lincoln, NE; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
