Seth Andrew Valet of Raytown, Missouri, was called to be with the Lord in the very early morning hours on Friday, August 6th, 2021, just one day after his 15th wedding anniversary.
Born on November 3rd, 1981, to Dennis and Dorothy Link-Valet, and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri with his three brothers, Mike, Jared, and Ethan. Seth graduated from Blue Springs North High School in 2000, and CMSU (UCM) in 2005. Seth had great love and great zest for his family, friends, and life in general. His friendly demeanor, persuasion, and humor was unlimited and came naturally and freely. His impact on those who knew him was, no doubt, impressionable if not monumental.
Practically coining the phrase, "work smarter - not harder", Seth most recently served as Facilities Manager at First Baptist Church in Lee's Summit in addition to singing beautifully as a tenor choir member and establishing - and heading - the church safety team. He also dutifully served as an officer for the Oakview Police Department, serving his department and community since 2003 with honor and dedication. Seth was a Patrol Officer, Court Bailiff, and Firearms Training Instructor (somehow maintaining all 10 digits throughout). His many selfless acts often went anonymous; never caring for acknowledgment. For Seth, simply doing and accomplishing was his reward.
His greatest role was dad and husband. Seth enjoyed taking family road trips to discover national parks and historic sights. While traveling throughout the U.S., he taught their kids about science and history along the way. A natural 'Mr. Fixit-meets-Tim Allen', he loved anything mechanical, outdoorsy, and musical (especially pipe organs - the bigger the better!). He had more passions and hobbies than perhaps is typically human.
Yet he embodied so much more for those who knew him. His welcoming spirit encircled everyone. He was a great friend, brother, son, teacher, innovator, protector and exuded a true servant's heart; bigger than his overalls. His quick smile, hearty laughter, and charming wit would always elevate a room full of people. His mind was oft betrayed by a devious smirk and a twinkle in his eye. His constant jokes were always at the ready.
He is survived by his wife, Melody, and their four children, Gideon, Micah, Miriam, and Silas, as well as his parents, his brothers and their respective families.
Seth will be tremendously missed. He will be forever remembered. His legacy, by God's grace, will endure through his kids who will, doubtless, be constantly bombarded by the wonderful and unique 'Seth-isms' as both family and friends recount the countless sayings, traits, and character of their beloved father and mentor.
