Richard Van Hoet

Richard Van Hoet, 92 of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at home. Richard was born May 29, 1920 in Shawnee, KS to parents Adolph and Germaine (Van Den Broucke) Van Hoet. He worked in various occupations, including truck gardening; as well as owning and operating Van Hoet’s Hardware Store, and Van Hoet’s Greenhouse along with his loving wife Mary Van Hoet, who preceded him in death in 2011. Richard was passionate about his gardening and most of all spending time with his family. He was also a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. Richard is survived by son, Richard Van Hoet “Dick” Jr.; daughter, Diana Raymer (David); three grandchildren, Janet Raymer, Delores Raymer, and Mary Bucko; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ethan Bucko. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, 64055. A Rosary will take place at 7:30 in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on June 12, 2012 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church; 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd.; Independence, MO. Burial will take place on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa KS. Please make donations to St. Mark’s Catholic Church. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Crossroads Hospice; especially Lana, Ron, Rachel, Ashley, and Esther.
