JAMES ALLEN VANDERPOOL
James A. (Jim) Vanderpool, 80, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Friday, January 6 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs.
Jim was born October 21, 1936 in Berryville, AR. He was the youngest of eight children born to Orba E. and Martha Alice Vanderpool.
In 1956 Jim met Judy Dillon, and they were united in marriage August 10, 1957, and shared over 59 years together. To that union were born three children, Mark Vanderpool (Linda) of Blue Springs, MO; Jeff Vanderpool (Bonnie) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Lynn Sjostrom (Mark) of Twin Falls, ID. Jim leaves one sister, Freda Sims of Fayetteville, AR; a brother, Loy Max Vanderpool (Dorothy) of Caseyville, MO; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren all of whom he cherished and prayed for, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters Vivian Tucker, Wayne Vanderpool, Lorene Howell, Dorothy Dell, and Jess Vanderpool.
Jim worked for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) for 35 years where he was lovingly known as “Skinny”. He retired in 1996. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, baseball, fishing trips, and many outings with some special friends. He was an active member of East Side Baptist Church, and loved the Classics Class there. His family and friends were his life. He loved his Lord, his family, friends, and the Kansas City Royals.
