Preston Scott VanGordon, a loving father and son, passed away after a long battle with brain cancer on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. He was 47. Preston was born to Roger and Marilyn VanGordon on January 21, 1974 in Batesville, Arkansas.
After graduating from Lee’s Summit High School Preston continued his education at DeVry University. He then enlisted into the United States Army and proudly served his country for 15 years. Preston enjoyed and was fascinated with firearms. He spent many hours at the shooting range and working in a gun store, buying and selling merchandise. Preston was a lover of all food and never missed an opportunity to indulge at his favorite restaurants Mama’s Garden and the Cracker Barrell. He loved his family and Dodge 1500 truck fiercely, and was always there to lend a hand to those in need. Preston will be remembered as a silly, boisterous, proud man that lit up the room with his presence. The train noise he could create with is vocal cords was on point and he enjoyed practicing that talent often. Preston never met a stranger the didn't become a friend and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn VanGordon; daughter, Cherish VanGordon; sons, Cory and Christopher VanGordon; Son-in-law Daniel Infranca, and Daughter-in-law Natasha VanGordon; grandchildren, Chyanne, Brentley, Dominic, Aidan and Anastasia.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29th from 5-7pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A private family graveside inurnment will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
