Barbara J. VanTrump, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013. A private graveside memorial is planned for a later time. Inurnment will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Barbara was born June 20, 1923 in Cainsville, MO as the only child to Edna (Payne) and John F. Long. She was raised in Independence and graduated from Northeast High School. Barbara married husband of 37 years, David Kenneth VanTrump, and was a homemaker until his passing in 1985. Afterwards, she worked as a clerk for Watt Drug earning Senior Worker of the Year from the State of Missouri, Department of Aging. Customers remember her as warm, kind, and funny. Her family remembers her as loving and caring with a positive and optimistic outlook despite any troubles.
Barbara is survived by daughter, Vikki Lynn Mitcheltree and husband Craig; daughter, Sherri Lee Moore and husband Joe all of Independence, MO; grandchildren Jordan Myers and wife Mindy; Kyle Myers and companion Christyle Parrino; and great grandson, Lincoln Rhett Myers.
