Sokha K Vath

Sokha K Vath, a loving husband, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was 51. Sokha was born to Keo Vath and Phy San on May 5, 1970 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
After moving to the United States from Cambodia in 1982 at the young age of 12 Sokha made many new discoveries. He saw snow for the first time and fell in love with the Fourth of July holiday. When Sokha earned his first paycheck he treated his younger siblings to an abundance of fireworks because he knew they’d love them as well. That was Sokha’s nature, he always made sure everyone surrounding him was cared for and had everything they could possibly need. When Sokha was 23 years old while attending a wedding reception he met the love of his life, Sokhan. They were married shortly after and spent the next 28 years making memories together. Sokha enjoyed camping with his family and was an avid fisherman. He would often be found at Lake Jacomo testing out one of his hundreds of fishing poles and chatting with the local fisherman. Sokha never met a stranger. Every year he would coordinate a family float trip to the Niangua River and never allowed anyone to go without. He made the river experience magical for all who were involved. Sokha’s outgoing, friendly, caring spirit will be missed deeply by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sokhan; sister, Mao Tong (Woody); brother, Vuth “Dominic” Vath (Tia); mother in law, Khen In; and sister in laws; Ratha “Monica” Smith (Brian) and Sokha In.
He was preceded by his parents; brother, Nath Vath and grandma, Seng Hass.
A remembrance for Sokha will be held on Sunday, October 31st from 10-12pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Mo. The family encourages visitors to come by and pay their respects at any point during that time.
