DONALD RODNEY VAUGHN
Donald Rodney Vaughn, 94, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at his residence. Donald was born September 22, 1927 to George and Ruth (Peeples) Vaughn of Stilwell, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police Battalion as a Corporal, mainly assigned to the Pentagon and Capitol. He later worked as an engineer with Southwestern Bell Telephone in St. Louis and Kansas City for over 40 years until he retired in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and family gatherings. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, Missouri. He is survived by his 6 children: Donna McClanahan (Dennis), Sheila Gehly, Darrell Vaughn (Ruth), Larry Vaughn (Sarah), Darla Levine (Marty), and Greg Vaughn (Betsy Fromm), a sister, Shirley Petersen, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 65 years, Sarah (Sally), who passed away in 2016, and also his parents and 4 siblings. Visitation is 10:00 a.m., Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055. Burial with full military honors will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery,
