Ronald Vermeland, 74, of Independence, MO, passed away on April 30, 2014. Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2820 Missouri Highway 291, Independence, MO. Ronald was born on May 4, 1939 in Sandwich, IL to Emmer and Clara (Johnson) Vermeland. Ronald met the love of his life while planning a roller skating party, 59 years ago, Rosalie Blish, and they were married on June 7, 1957. To this union two sons were born, Ronald and Robin. Ronald was a very caring, honest, kind man, with a cantankerous sense of humor. Throughout his life he worked hard and excelled at everything he did, rising rapidly through the ranks to become an officer with the company. A caretaker in spirit, everything and everyone were left better after he arrived. In his spare time he enjoyed flying, woodworking, making clocks, fishing, camping, and most importantly his family. Ronald was also very involved with the church, most recently serving in the office of Patriarch. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Rosalie Vermeland, of the home; sons, Ronald Vermeland Jr, of WI, and Robin (Anita) Vermeland, of CA; 4 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Emmer Jr, Laverne, Dwayne, and sister, Mavis. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. As an avid pilot, Ron would say, “Control Tower, There is one soul on board.” Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel 816-373-3600.
