Danny Vinson, 86, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017. A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Ascension Lutheran Church 4900 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. A service will follow at 10am at the church. Interment will take place at 12pm at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville.
Danny was born on July 5, 1931 in Winona, TX to Edgar and Ruth Vinson. He proudly served in the United States Navy. On August 14, 1954 he married Darleen Rosenkoetter. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, USS Cavalier Association and USS Bon Homie Richard. Danny was very active in his churches, Messiah Lutheran and later Ascension Lutheran. In his spare time he loved woodworking and gardening but most of all loved being with his family.
Danny will be remembered by his wife of 63 years Darleen Vinson of the home; daughter Rochelle Ross and husband Darwin of Independence, MO; son Bryan Vinson and wife Susan of Charlotte, NC; daughter Kim Vinson and Mike Williams of Pleasant Hill, MO; sister Shirley Vinson of Mexia, TX; plus several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by 4 of his siblings.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ascension Lutheran Church.
